MEET OUR NATIONAL ADVISORS
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Team Humane is for anyone who wants to help animals while also getting (or staying) fit. Participants will join a local team of like-minded people who will train and fundraise together during the Team Humane season. There will be a kickoff event in August where you will meet your teammates and at least one training or fundraising event per month for the rest of the year (some teams train together year-round, but the official season ends on December 31). Each team member is encouraged to raise at least $500 to reduce farm animal suffering.
Throughout the season, participants will have access to exclusive training, fitness, and nutrition resources provided by our panel of expert advisors. We will also be providing information to help you get the most out of your fundraising, including template emails, social media images, and a fundraising guide.
We’ll be here, along with your teammates and Team Captain, to help you every step of the way. Whether you’re looking for motivation to start a new fitness program, are ready to take your training to the next level, or want to help animals, this is the place for you!
Nope! Team Humane is for everyone, whether you’re just beginning a fitness program or if you’re already a seasoned athlete.
If you’re just getting started, Team Humane is a great way to surround yourself with support, encouragement, and expertise. You’ll have the opportunity to work out with like-minded individuals in your community, as well as access to exclusive info, tips, and tricks from our expert Advisors on fitness and nutrition.
And don’t worry, you’re not expected to run a marathon at the end (unless you want to!). You can choose your own challenge for the season. Your goal can be anything you want: a 5k walk, taking X number of yoga classes, or doing something else that inspires you.
That’s up to you! Each team will choose their own “main” event for the season. We encourage teams to choose an event that has a variety of intensity levels (like a race that offers a 5k, 10k, half marathon, and full marathon options) so that as many team members as possible can participate, but it’s not mandatory that you participate in your team’s chosen event. You can choose a different event or make up your own personal challenge (like taking a certain number of fitness classes by the end of the year, climbing a particular mountain, or competing in a triathlon).
The Team Humane season runs from August through the end of December. Your team event will take place sometime in the fall, although both fundraising and training will continue after that’s over.
We’re here to help! As a Team Humane participant, you’ll receive access to fundraising tips, template emails to help you get started, and social media images to grab people’s attention and ask them to donate to your campaign. Our team is always available to work with you one-on-one to find strategies that work best for you.
No. We encourage all team members to raise at least $500 to help protect farm animals from abuse, but this is not mandatory. We will be here to help you meet this goal, but if you don’t get there, you are not expected to cover the difference.
If you don’t live in one of the cities that already has a team set up, you can either create a team or join as an individual. If you’d like to start a team, fill out our Captain application form and start recruiting teammates. If you’d like to join as an individual, you can set up your campaign page here using the “Become a Fundraiser” button. We think it’s more fun to train with a team, but that’s totally up to you!
No! Team Humane is an inclusive event that welcomes anyone interested in reducing animal suffering. We know that no matter where you are on the veg spectrum, you probably don’t believe that animals should be tortured in factory farms. Raising money with Team Humane League is a great way to help improve those animals’ lives.
Please note that all Team Humane events will be 100% plant-based and we ask that you not bring animal products to them, even for personal consumption only. If you’ve never tried vegan food, this is a great opportunity to test the water…we promise it’s delicious!
The money raised as part of Team Humane League will help to make the world a kinder place for farm animals by funding programs to get large corporations to improve their animal welfare policies, work in your local communities to educate people about factory farming and ways to make animal-friendly food choices, and train the next generation of activists to be as effective as possible. You can learn more about these programs here.
